Weekly Update:
WOW-It is already Memorial Day Weekend. It is easy to get confused about what day it is,
when our sense of orderliness has been shaken. As a kid this was the time to look forward to
summer and not having to sit in a classroom. Summer vacations were officially starting, with
some of those travel plans being in place for months. Today, what do we look forward to?
How can we make plans, when we don’t know what we will be able to do or see or even be able
to go? What do you tell your kids or grandkids? It has been a joy to see how parents are giving
their kids “vacations” at home. One family was supposed to go to the beach. Well, they created
the beach in their bathroom. Brought in sand in plastic container, filled the tub so they could
“swim”, brought in the pails and shovels, decorated the walls with sea scenes and dressed the
kids in their swimsuits. The mom said the kids were in there for hours. Just because you can’t
go someplace does not mean you can’t go on “vacation”.
Church Stuff:
The Church Council actually met this past week. It was good to get together. We met in the
sanctuary where we could maintain the physical distancing. It was good to see Toni Joyce. We
continue to pray for her. In this time, the council was updated on where we are and the plans that
we are putting in place to gather together safely. Thank you for the adaptability that you have
shown in doing church.
WORSHIP SERVICE—Pentecost Sunday—May 31 st —8:00am
Here is the plan—We are going to do a DRIVE-IN worship service in the parking lot. The cars
will all be facing South towards the buildings. The pastors will be on the sidewalk and the sound
system will be broadcasting through the parking lot. You can stay in your car or bring lawn
chairs to sit in front of. We are asking that you maintain the physical distancing as best as you
can. We are still working on some of the details about the specifics of the service, but know that
we are worshiping with the goal of gathering and keeping everyone as safe as possible.
Continue to take advantage of the Video Sermons and Pastor Dan’s Thursday Bible Studies.
Know that we continue to be in the office, answering phones, receiving mail and checking our
emails. As far as we know, no one from the congregation has been infected by the virus. There
are number of people who are dealing with extended family and friends in the country who have
been infected and we continue to pray for them as well as all of those who are giving care and
comfort.
PARISH HEALTH:
Do you just need to talk to get you through this time? Know that Bonnie is still here, working
and sending out prayer requests. More than that she is that listening ear that we all need.
